All the cycling. This has been a lifelong interest which took a hiatus there for a bit and kicked off again with the Orbea Opal being the steed of choice for the reboot. Being fairly clueless about the evolution of bicycles in the intervening decades I found myself on a thoroughbred racing machine with razor sharp handling, ridiculously fast and not geared for hills, not especially ideal for a novice rider but I’ve still got it and like grandfathers axe, its still going strong.
The journey transitioned through bike clubs, fast bunch rides, losing a lot of weight and getting reasonably fit and fast, Audax (I am the worst Audax rider of all time), one decent crash a hundred miles from home, a non bike riding incident which wrecked one leg, rediscovering a love of Rossins, vintage bike riding, gravel and rail trails, Eroica in Japan and something unforeseen and a great joy – riding with Joan including riding the Voir Bleue in France, the MS Ride in Brisbane, the Northern Rivers Rail Trail, Caboolture Rail Trail, all over Brunswick Heads and no doubt other adventures yet to be discovered. Its been a great ride.
