This is 700km of cycle route following waterways from Luxembourg to Lyon and a bucket list event. Joan had included it in our recent visit to France and was determined that we would ride a portion despite the heat which was insane and an injury which added to the challenge. We hired two machines at Tournus, one the Ferrari of recumbent trikes, a Scorpion 26 S with all the fruit.
It became necessary to work out how to affix Joan to the trike which ended up by way of SPD pedals and cycling shoes with SPD cleats, another first. Suitably installed and a few laps of the car park later we set out down the trail among the trees and fields beside the Saone river. Just magnificent.
We managed about 12 very memorable kilometres and in the end the heat got the better of us, but it was an excellent time and definitely an epic ride.
